Fall Tour Recap, Winter Plans!

Hey folks!

A very quick recap of fall tour: We raised $2,313 for Friends of Esther and the This Star Won’t Go Out Foundation. Our goal was to raise $500. The generosity, sincerity, and enthusiasm displayed by wizard rock fans across the country was something I can’t adequately describe, but I can simply point you to that number if you need any demonstration. THANK YOU to all the fans who contributed! You lovely young wizards and witches are the reason I get up in the morning. I love you guys!

Not gonna lie: I’m looking forward to a few months off from touring, but I’ve got a LOT planned between now and April. Here’s a quick run-down:

*I am in the midst of planning a huge online holiday merch sale, the likes of which have never been seen on any Whomping Willows website. I am planning for this sale to begin on Sirius Black Friday, November 26! Alongside this amazing sale will be the release of a new t-shirt that may qualify as the most requested Whomping Willows shirt design of all time: a House of Awesome crest shirt! This shirt will resemble the usual Hogwarts House crest shirts, and it will be the fanciest and most fashionable Whomping Willows shirt of all time. I expect to make it available for pre-orders in the next two weeks or so, and it should ship in time for Christmas! Other deals: CDs 2 for $10, Golden Sparkly Eagle and I Believe In Nargles shirts $16 each or 2 for $30, a few leftover summer tour shirts for just $10, and Whomping Willows button sets for just $5! ALL of these prices include shipping! DETAILS SOON!!!

*This Thursday, November 18, I’ll be playing at The College of New Jersey with Lauren Fairweather! We’ll be playing during the college’s HP7 event beginning at 11am in the Brower Student Center. That night at around 5pm, we’ll be playing AGAIN at The Rat, which appears to be an on-campus club of some sort. This event is open to non-students, although we’re technically not supposed to list it on our websites. Lolz.

*On Sunday, November 21, I’ll be playing at the New York City Wizard Rock Festival with an amazing list of fellow wizard rock bands (here’s a sampling: The Remus Lupins, Swish & Flick, Draco and the Malfoys, Tonks and the Aurors…)! YOU NEED TO BE AT THIS EVENT! Get your tickets NOW! DO IT!!!

*YULE BALLS!!! Paul DeGeorge of Harry and the Potters has put together an amazing lineup of Yule Balls in Boston, NYC, and Philadelphia, and I’ll be playing at two of them! Go check out my tour schedule for more information!

*The details haven’t been finalized yet, but it appears that I’ll be making my return to the amazing hp-ohio Crystal Ball on January 22, 2011 at Landoll’s Castle in Loudonville, OH! Get your tickets now and save some money! The hp-ohio folks throw unbeatable parties and Landoll’s Castle is an amazing event space.

*Lauren, Justin and I will be performing at the third annual Oklahoma Wizarding League charity ball in OKC on February 5, 2011! We’ll also be booking a brief tour around this event, most likely from January 31 to February 10. I haven’t begun to book this tour yet, but if you draw a line from Rhode Island to OKC and back, you might get an idea of where we’ll be playing along the way. Find out more information about the OKC Ball by clicking this link!

*I don’t have all the details yet, but I’ll be performing at the fourth annual Hallows & Horcruxes Ball in Manhattan KS on Saturday, March 5, 2011! This ball will feature the same stellar lineup as last year and, as always, it’ll be one of the year’s major wizard rock highlights! Mark it on yer calendars, wizard kids!

*Lauren and I will be performing as Armoured Bearcub at RagnaWrock 2011, a fantastic multi-genre music event happening in Hellertown PA on March 19, 2011! This event will feature Stephanie Anderson of Tonks and the Aurors, Kristin Davisson of The Marauders, Hawthorn and Holly, George’s Left Ear, and many others!

*I will be performing at Wrock Reggies 2011 on April 8 and 9, 2011 and Aeternitas 2011 on April 28 through May 1, 2011! Wrock Reggies is a second installment of the chaotically awesome event that occurred during Terminus in Chicago, IL. Aeternitas 2011 is a Harry Potter conference that will feature wizard rock, educational programming, and other awesome stuff! Lauren, Justin, and I will be booking a tour around these two events, so stay tuned for more information about that!

*Finally, in the midst of all this crazy, I am planning on recording a new album between now and April. Here’s the catch: It won’t be a Whomping Willows album, it’ll be a Matt Maggiacomo album. I’ve been planning to release a non-wizard album for years now, but I’ve only just begun to finalize plans for it. Fans of my wizard rock music can look forward to a blend of Demons at the Helm and Wizard Party Forever!!!, minus the pretense of being a magical tree at Hogwarts. More details to come!

I’m going to be at the Yule Ball in Philly! Yay! Also, I really hope that I can go to RagnaWrock, because I live so close to Hellertown it’s riddikulus!

But I am SO SAD that I can’t make it to the NYCWRF, because there will be so many awesome people. (Including MoM! I would love to see them live, because they were my first wrock band) According to my parents, I can’t go to something in November AND December. Sigh.

Fall tour was great!!! I’m so glad I made it to 2 of the shows.

I’m hopping to be at the OWL’s Charity Ball and the Hallows & Horcruxes Ball next year.

p.s. It would be great if during your mini-tour around the OKC show, you had a stop in Wichita.

  • By Sam, November 14, 2010 @ 10:41 pm

I really wanted to go to the Boston Yule Ball, but I won’t be able to make it there. At least I will be at the Brooklyn Yule Ball.

Also, are you going to be touring as Matt Maggiacomo alongside The Whomping Willows after you release your album?

  • By Joella, November 14, 2010 @ 10:44 pm

Oh my gosh, yes. I am so excited <3

I'll definitely take advantage of the holiday sale, and I'm hoping to see you at Hallows and Horcruxes!

A missile from Gaza just hit Tel Aviv. No caileutsas. But that is a new quality thanks, likely, to Iran. Tel Aviv has not been under threat before this.
